Training Boats and Equipment.
The 2 day RYA Powerboat level 2 course runs at our Training Centre at Rudders Boatyard. We are an approved RYA powerboat training centre with direct access to the tidal waters of the Milford Haven. This RYA powerboat level 2 course is the perfect boat training course for the absolute beginner or a stepping stone to further courses by sharpening those existing skills.
Our main teaching boat is a 6.2m Ribeye with a 2025 Tohatsu 115hp engine. The side by side seating allow for easy and clear teaching from your instructor whilst keeping the other participants close by to listen in. The boat is fitted with state of the art systems to allow you to learn the ever modernising world of boating.
Our second boat is a professional, powerful, sea going 5.3 meter Humber Destroyer with a with a 2026 Tohatsu 115hp engine. It is also fully Maritime Coast Guard Agency (MCA) coded with all the necessary safety gear aboard.

Our RYA accredited Training Staff
You will be taught by either Sarah or Nick Pollard who are fully qualified Powerboat, Dinghy and Windsurf Instructors. They have taught a wide range of courses around the world for over 10 years.
We teach with a complete emphasis on a practical “show & then you try” basis rather than blasting you with loads of theory which can go “in one ear and out of the other”. We only teach a maximum of three pupils at once and adapt our teaching style to your learning style. This ensures you get the time and understanding to build and develop many new skills over the two days .
If you dream about boating abroad then the level 2 course also allows you to apply for the RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC) which is a legal requirement to helm a boat in many countries outside the UK. So it’s the perfect course for anyone new to power boating or wanting to improve with some professional tuition. If you join or are already a member of the RYA, you can then obtain the ICC for free.
Nick also specilises in own boat tuition, either full RYA accredited two day courses or a few hours private tuition to learn specific skills on your own boat. He has taught on a wide range of new and used boats from smaller RIBs, Merry Fisher 1095’s & Axopar 28’s including inboard, outboard and twin outboard.
As a family run business we will always go above and beyond, so please get in touch with any questions you have.
